A Laugh at Ann Wagner's Expense

Ann Wagner, left, Pays the Blunts for FEC Compliance*
I saw a picture over at Big Journalism with the sub-title: "Ed Martin, left, talks with Roy Blunt" and I just had to laugh. Roy Blunt's popularity among Tea Partiers and conservatives is pretty low, so Ed Martin probably doesn't want to be seen with him and certainly hasn't been seen with him recently. In short, the photo was a nice, subtle attempt to associate Ed Martin with Roy Blunt.

Of course, there are several reasons beyond Blunt's waning popularity why Ed Martin doesn't want to be seen with Missouri's newest US Senator. First, Roy Blunt has endorsed Ed's primary opponent Ann Wagner. Second, Ann Wagner chaired Blunt's 2010 Senate campaign. And third, Roy Blunt's daughter, Amy Blunt, works for the Bespoke Group and they provided "FEC Compliance" to the Ann Wagner campaign as documented above.

Given that Wagner's FEC statements have been in the news recently, I suspect that Roy Blunt was hoping to maintain a respectable distance. Who knows, maybe Roy would've been willing to be seen with Ed Martin simply to fabricate the illusion of separation between himself and Ann Wagner. Well, that's not possible now!

So, with that background, please enjoy my subtitle to the picture above once again: Ann Wagner, left, Pays the Blunts for FEC Compliance.

* I know the phrase "pays the Blunts" misses the mark, but that wording concisely conveys the irony of the situation, so I'm keeping it.

Let's face it, Ann Wagner has been associated with many Republican establishment campaigns in the last 20 years, including fundraising this past spring for Dick Lugar, Obama's favorite senator, who is being challenged by TEA Party-endorsed candidate, Murdock. The idea of Blunt and Wagner being tight is no secret..... birds of a feather thing, you know....But paying a Blunt for FEC compliance, sweet!

this is the post I previously deleted to add an S on campaign......
